Smooth skin should not require a harsh experience. At Brooklyn Nails & Spa, our laser hair removal service uses Soprano ICE by Alma—a professional platform designed to gradually heat the treatment area while helping keep the skin surface cool.
The goal is long-term hair reduction, not an instant one-session removal. Because hair grows in cycles, a thoughtfully planned series of appointments is needed to reach follicles during their active growth phase.
01What makes Soprano ICE different?
Soprano ICE combines Alma’s SHR delivery method with an In-Motion technique. Instead of relying only on a single high-energy pulse, the applicator moves repeatedly over the area and delivers lower-energy pulses at a high repetition rate. Heat builds gradually in the follicle while the surrounding skin is protected.
Its ICE technology continuously cools the skin surface during treatment. Many guests describe this approach as more comfortable than traditional laser experiences, although every person’s sensitivity is different.
- SHR gradually heats the treatment area.
- In-Motion movement supports even, overlapping coverage.
- Continuous contact cooling helps improve comfort.
- Settings are selected for the treatment area, hair and skin profile.
02Designed for a wider range of skin tones
Alma states that Soprano ICE is cleared for Fitzpatrick skin types I–VI and can be used on tanned skin when assessed and operated appropriately. This broader suitability is one reason the platform has become recognized for inclusive laser hair removal.
A consultation still matters. Recent sun exposure, medications, skin conditions, tattoos and the color or density of the hair can influence whether treatment is appropriate and which settings should be used.
03Benefits guests appreciate
The experience is designed around consistency, comfort and coverage. Results vary, but a personalized course of treatment can help hair return finer, lighter and less densely over time.
- Long-term reduction of unwanted hair.
- A virtually painless approach for many guests.
- Efficient treatment of both small and larger body areas.
- Less daily shaving and fewer razor-related inconveniences over time.
- A treatment plan adapted to your skin, hair and goals.
04What happens during an appointment?
Your specialist first reviews the area and confirms that treatment is appropriate. Protective eyewear is used, the applicator is placed against the skin and moved in a controlled pattern. You may feel warmth beneath the skin while the cooled tip remains in contact with the surface.
Appointment length depends on the size and number of areas being treated. Small areas can be relatively quick, while legs or multiple zones naturally require more time.
05How many sessions will I need?
Hair follicles are not all active at the same time, so one appointment cannot treat every hair effectively. Alma notes that many patients need approximately six to eight sessions, often spaced four to eight weeks apart. Your plan may be shorter or longer depending on the area, hair characteristics, hormones and individual response.
Maintenance sessions may occasionally be recommended. Laser hair removal is best described as long-term hair reduction, and no ethical provider should promise identical or permanent results for everyone.
06Before and after your treatment
Follow the personalized directions provided by your specialist. In general, avoid waxing or plucking before a series because the follicle needs to remain present, and tell us about medications, recent tanning, pregnancy, active irritation or changes in your health.
- Arrive with clean skin and no deodorant, lotion or oil on the area.
- Shave only as directed before your appointment; do not wax or pluck.
- Avoid unnecessary sun exposure and use broad-spectrum sunscreen.
- Afterward, treat the area gently and avoid intense heat or friction if the skin feels sensitive.
- Contact the salon if you experience an unexpected or persistent reaction.
07Is Soprano ICE right for you?
The best way to know is through a consultation. We will discuss the area you want to treat, your skin and hair profile, expectations and relevant health information before recommending a plan.
Laser treatments are not performed over tattoos, and very light, gray, white or red hair may respond differently because laser energy relies on pigment. Individual assessment is essential.
